Cheryl...goes out and about!

Posted by Cheryl at 19:07
Firstly, I apoligise for my rather depressing post on Sunday-when I feel like that it really does help to just get it all out on here and being a writer, that is the best way for me. I never really expect 50+ people to read what I say! I am a very honest person so I'm afraid with me it's what you see is what you get! Thank you to those who have facebooked/tweeted/commented/messaged/text me...it is nice to know that people understand and can sympathise.
Inspired by a friend's blog post, I thought I would share with you all the wonderful places I would recommend to visit-in the UK! Michael and I go on many day trips/mini breaks and we have seen some beautiful places. I truely suggest a little day break when life is getting you down, it definitely cheers me up! It also means we get to spend real quality time together which is really precious.

Canterbury

Canterbury is a lovely place in Kent, possible for a day visit if you live around London but it would be pretty rushed. The shops are really nice and whilst we were there we had a lovely private canal boat ride and a walk along the river. It is worth a night's stay and there are some great restaurants plus the cathedral is a must visit.

Whistable

Whistable is another place in Kent, a small seaside town and has a cute little beach to sit on and watch the world go by. It has quaint little shopsand the classic 2p machines in the arcade. It is very popular with families so probably best not to visit during half terms.

Brighton

Brighton is one of my favourite places in the whole world! I always find the atmosphere really buzzing, it is a very eclectic place and wherever you go there are original shops and cafes and I don't think I could ever get bored.  I visit about once every 1-2 months and my dream home would be a big flat overlooking the sea! It is busy but the beach is lovely (although I prefer sand) and one of my favourite places to eat is called 'JB's Diner' opposite the seafront-a very cheap 50's diner!

Bath

Michael and I visited Bath a few years ago and it really is a beautiful place, it took a while to get there by coach but we had so much fun. Some of the attractions are quite expensive but you can do many things for free-like walk around and look at the pretty houses (and imagine yourself living there like I do). There is also a wicked crazy golf and some lovely tea rooms which sell delicious cupcakes! (trust me I tried one...or two...)

Warwick

Michael and I visited Warwick in 2010 and it's mainly worth a visit due to its magnificent castle. It only took about 2 hours by train from London and we stayed in a sweet little hotel in the centre of town. The town itself is quite small and there isn't much happening but it is very quaint and we visited the castle twice, it was that good!

Arundel

I did a blog post about our visit to Arundel a few weeks ago-what a fantastic place! It is so unspoilt and picturesque and only 1hr 20 mins from London, it can be easily visited in a day. If you are looking for anywhere to visit in South England, this would be my top recommendation.

Our next little trip is to a place called Amberely in Sussex-we are going for a day trip in June and I can't wait! In my June half term, my Mum and I are going on holiday to Southport and whilst we are there we are going to take a trip to Liverpool and go on the Beatles 'Magical Mystery Tour', we both love the Beatles so we're really excited. So I have lots of lovely trips planned these next few months (and course Italy Trip August 2012 whoo!) so I think that just about fufils my travel obsession for now ;)

This week has been ok so far, I am happy to see a little sunshine again and it gives me hope that we may have a sunny May! I am also really looking forward to a bank holiday weekend-seeing friends, going to the cinema...it will be lovely.

xoxo
