Doing Sussex in style!

Well I have to say Arundel is one of my new favourite places in the UK! It couldn't be any more different from London if it tried and that is why I loved it. As nice as it is to have everything you need on your doorstep-I often find London a very unwelcoming and overwhealming place to live. I have never lived anywhere else so I love getting out of the city. Arundel was so peaceful and a perfect place to visit if you just need to forget about things for a few days.

I found Michael and I a great deal for train travel by booking online a few weeks in advance. It only took 1hr 20 mins from Clapham Junction and only £7 return-absolute bargain and cheaper than a travelcard in London! When researching hotels (my favourite thing to do!) I noticed they were pretty sparse and also expensive in the Arundel area but I found a nice place called The Swan Hotel which was a reasonable £65 a night. It is also a pub and we had a nice double room with a very comfy bed and some nice little touches like free shortbread and hot chocolate (quickly consumed by us of course). It was noisy being a pub of course but that didn't bother us! It had free wi-fi too which is always a bonus.

We got up to loads of fun things in Arundel-we were really lucky with the weather and got hardly any rain so we made the most of this by doing lots of outdoor activities. Michael and I are both lovers of crazy/mini golf and we made the most of Arundel's 18 hole mini golf-we went twice! Michael beat me both times (although the first time he pretended I had more points than I actually did to spare my feelings...)-to say I'm rubbish at anything involving hand/eye coordination is an understatement! It was great fun regardless. We also had a wonderful time in Arundel castle. What a beautiful place-I walked around daydreaming of getting married there (hear that Michael :p) as it's so unspoilt and picturesque.

We spent a long time walking through the gardens and also found out there is a jousting week there in July-definitely an excuse for a re-visit! We went up really high and took some nice pictures, with the sun still shining!

Arundel also has lovely shops and cafes, we had a nice time strolling around. I didn't buy anything other than some postcards but a gift shop we were really eager to go in was closed :(

My favourite thing was just walking by the riverside, the best thing about Arundel is that there are hardly any people around! We walked around pretty much the whole town in about 25 minutes and on the way we looked around the cathedral and other beautiful churches-seeing only about 5 people on our way!

One evening we had a GORGEOUS Indian meal. Michael and I are massive lovers of Indian food-we probably get through about 3 curries a week and we always like to try different places. We went to a restaurant called Magna Tandoori and we each had some lovely curry, naan bread, rice, poppadoms and bombay potatoes-we felt so full afterwards we just watched to crash at our hotel and watch some TV. We were the only ones in the restaurant too which was nice!

I am a huge lover of the romantic mini-break as you can probably tell so if you are thinking of anywhere, even just for a day trip, I would highly recommend Arundel! We are hoping to go back just for the day again during our next half term :) I will have to resist any more trips from now on as I have to start saving for our holiday to Rome and Florence in August!

Today I have decided to cook Michael a meal and try and make it special as for our whole relationship to date, Michael has done all the cooking! When we first started dating and when he came to my home for the first time, I cooked him a pasta meal which was a complete disaster. So I gave up and just relished in the fact that I have a man who is a great cook and 'let' him do it all ;) So it may go all wrong tonight but at least I would have tried!

I only have 3 1/2 more days of my holidays :( which have been so lovely. I am back for 7 weeks and then it is an early June half term. I am visiting Southport with my lovely mummy and we are hoping to make a day trip to Liverpool to go on the Beatles tour! We went in 2003 and as we are big fans, it makes sense to re-visit! I love going up North as I am always made to feel so welcome...plus I love scouse accents! Until tomorrow...or the day after xoxo

p.s: It would have been my Grandad's birthday today, hope he is having a party in the sky, we had an Italian lunch in his honour and I'm sure he would have loved it! :)
